BIRTHDAY DINNER
Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Hand and family of Lincoln spent Sunday at the John Wilson home. Mrs. Hand and Mrs. Wilson birthdays occur on the same day and were celebrated this year at the Wilson home. Donna Belle Wilson baked the birthday cakes. Mrs. N.M. Wilson was a guest at the birthday dinner.

Mrs. Nettie Hand is attending a china and glass show at Convention Center in Atlantic City, NJ.

NETTIE HAND RETIRES
Mr. Sam J. Marchese, General Manager, Brandeis, Lincoln, hosted a retirement breakfast in honor of Nettie Hand, co-worker with 38 years of continuous service. A buyer of China and Gifts for many years, Nettie has managed the Girls' Department and lately has managed the Hat and Wig Department.
More than 30 of her closest associates were reminded of humorous incidents in her career by Mr. Marchese. More seriously, he told of several of her own prmotional efforts that have become annual events, not only in her own store, but were also copied by other successful retail stores.
Gifts were a feature of the party, as Nettie earned the respect and affection of many co-workers through the years. One package in tribute to the Hand sense of humor presented by co-workers was a beautifully wrapped box of broken china.
Mr. Neil Thompson, Assistant General Manager, and a close associate of Mrs. Hand throughout her career commented, "When Nettie laughs - everyone laughs."

Services; 1 pm Tuesday, Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St. The Rev. Richard Dinsdale. Memorials to American Cancer Society, Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs. Visitation; 9 am Monday, until service time.

Dear Nettie
Rc'd your card and $1.00. You shouldn't sent that, for I didn't want postage. I was copying some dates off of it. It is not in very good shape, even tho it has laid away for years except when aunt Lettie had it for a while. It needs binding. But the dates in Grandma's hand writing are so sweet. How well I remember her writing and miss it so. Now Nettie as long as you sent the $1.00, will tell you what I will do with it. Am fixing a box of presents for the old people who have no one to remember them at X'mas and they are in Gerneral hospital, and several places, and will have their X'mas Sunday. I have 20 individual presents wrapped, for I have such a soft spot in my heart for old people, so will add some more with your money. Some never even get a card. As the man at the head said When you are old you learn some things come late in life, so they are just as happy that their X'mas is Cat, and maybe our grandma is looking down on us today as we do a good deed this New Years.

Baker - Hand
A very pretty home wedding took place last Wednesday at the home of Mrs. D.O. Wharton at Blue Sprigs, when daughter, Nettie Mae Baker became the bride of Mr. Roland Hand. The Rev. E.E. Powell of Wymore Christian church performed the cememony.
Preceding the cememony Miss Mildred Powell sant "I Love You Truly." accompanied by Miss Helen Fauver.
The bridal couple were accompanied by Mrs. John Wilson, sister to the bride, as matron of honor, and Mr. Cecil Hand, brother to the groom as best man. Little Wilma Imogene Baker was ring bearer.
The bride is a daughter of Mrs. D.O. Wharton of Blue Springs and is well and favorably known to a large circle fo friends. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Hand living northeast of town, and is known as an honest industrious young man.
Mr. and Mrs. Hand will be at home March 1st on a farm near Diller.
