Notes

Note: During the depression years of the early 1930's, Bill was employed as a butcher, which presented the opportunity of keeping food on the the table in those lean years.
Bill, was always making home improvements and working his garden. Was ready with a hammer and saw whenever someone needed assistance on projects.
Loved entertaining his grandchildren, from special town outtings to fishing excusions in southeastern Nebraska.
He had a fondness for new vehicles, in which he was known to being trading in for a new car every few years. Later in life, driving tours in the local area was a means of entertainment, until a series of minor traffic accidents in a short period of time, took away his driving license.

Three Families Hold Reunion Here on Sunday
The families of Mr. and Mrs. A. Hand, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Koch, and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Saathoff held a family reunion Sunday at Antelope Park. A picnic dinner was served at noon. In the group were Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hand and children Darlene and Donald. Miss Jesse Koch, Misses Stella and Grace Saathoff, Mr. and Mrs. A. Hand and daughter Ruby, Mr. Mrs. Cecil Hand and children Elaine and Beverly, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Koch and children Arlo and Betty, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Koch and children Jeanette and Kenneth, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Saathoff and daughter Geneva, and Miss Ruth Saathoff all of Wymore; Mr. and Mrs. Onno Beckmann and daughter Donalie, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Krueger and Frank Krueger of Odell, Charles Baker of Denton and Misses Arlene and Eris Beck, and William Beck of Venango, NE.

Roland W. "Bill" Hand
Sabetha, KS - Roland W. "Bill" Hand, 87, Sabehta, KS, died Monday, December 12, 1994, at the Sabetha Manor. He was born August 15, 1907, on a farm near Odell, NE, where he spent his childhood. He married Nettie Baker on December 15, 1926. They lived in Lincoln, where he as a meat cutter and later a furniture salesman for Hardy's Furniture until he retired in 1969. He married Dorothy Comfer in 1985 and moved to Sabetha in 1986. He was member of the Masonic Lodge in Lincoln.
Survivors: son, Don and wife Ginny of Lincoln; daughter, Darlene Huggins and husband John H. of Lincoln; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Lottie Richey of Houston, TX, and Ruby Krueger and Eva Beckman, both of Beatrice; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlando and Jenny (Craven) Hand; both wives; and infant son Bobby; sister, Meda Beck; a brother, Cecil Hand; and one grandson.
Funeral; 1:30pm Friday, December 16, Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore, with Pastor Alan Buresh officiating. Burial; Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs. Masonic services conducted by Wymore Lodge 104 A.F.&A.M. Visitation: at the funeral home until the time of service. Memorials to the Masonic Eastern Star Children's Home in Fremont, with the funeral home in charge. Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore.

Baker - Hand
A very pretty home wedding took place last Wednesday at the home of Mrs. D.O. Wharton at Blue Sprigs, when daughter, Nettie Mae Baker became the bride of Mr. Roland Hand. The Rev. E.E. Powell of Wymore Christian church performed the cememony.
Preceding the cememony Miss Mildred Powell sant "I Love You Truly." accompanied by Miss Helen Fauver.
The bridal couple were accompanied by Mrs. John Wilson, sister to the bride, as matron of honor, and Mr. Cecil Hand, brother to the groom as best man. Little Wilma Imogene Baker was ring bearer.
The bride is a daughter of Mrs. D.O. Wharton of Blue Springs and is well and favorably known to a large circle fo friends. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Hand living northeast of town, and is known as an honest industrious young man.
Mr. and Mrs. Hand will be at home March 1st on a farm near Diller.
