Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home. Smith died Sunday, July 6, 1997, in St. Mary Hospital. He was born in Rowlett. He moved to Lubbock in 1942 from Meadow. He was a member of Lubbock's First Christian Church. He was a member of RSVP and the Senior Citizens of First Christian Church. He married Thelma Pendleton on March 24, 1936, in Lubbock. He was a salesman for Lubbock Hardware and Becknell Hardware. He was active in the Ham Radio Club for many years. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Joyce Manning of Lubbock; two sons, Lilburn Ray of Weatherford and Cloyce of Vancouver, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Meals on Wheels or to the American Cancer Society.
