 Note: "William Hurst was born July 10, 1796 in New River, Wythe
 Note: County, Virginia to John and Elizabeth (Breedwell) Hurst. He
 Note: married Fannie Nunn, born 1790, died April 20, 1873, aged about
 Note: 84 years. In 1821, William Hurst purchased land in Claiborne
 Note: County, Tennessee from John Hurst. He sold this land to a
 Note: William Hurst in 1822. William Hurst brought his family to
 Note: Putnam County, Indiana in 1823, according to a biography written
 Note: of his son Jefferson in 1881. They located on Deer Creek in
 Note: Marion Township, where William patented several tracts of land
 Note: from the U.S. Government. He cleared a place and built a log
 Note: cabin, putting in a small crop of corn that first year in
 Note: Indiana. The 1881 History of Putnam County, Indiana described
 Note: William Hurst as a peacemaker, who was "frequently called upon
 Note: to settle Matters of dispute among his neighbors."
 Note:
 Note: William died on October 8, 1849 in Putnam County, Indiana. He
 Note: was known as a Democrat and a devoted member of the Old School
 Note: Baptist Church. Fanny and most likely William, are buried in the
 Note: Deer Creek Cemetery, Putnam County.
