Notes
a. Note:   Carl Czarkowsky (35) and his wife Francisca (35) and Franz Czarkowsky (42) arrived in Baltimore on the German ship Hermann. in April 1881, with their children Anna (9), Martha (3), Augusta (5), and Robert (2). In 1885 they were settled at 1122 N. Water St., Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In
The 1889-90 City Directory of Milwaukee, Wisconsin shows a Charles and Frank Czarkowski at 1122 N. Water St. (note same address of Carl in the 1885 City Directory). There is no "Carl" in this City Directory. concluding that the names Carl, Karol and Charles were therefore the same person. The 1895 census shows two males and three females. Since Martha and Augusta survived, Anna must have died. Assuming that "brother" Franz was still living with our family, there should have been three males, concluding that Robert must have died. (Neither Anna nor Robert appear in subsiquent records). Carl "Czarkorski" was naturalized on March 3, 1896. (certificate #7848, vol. 19)

A record of a daughter Francesca born on Oct. 30, 1886, to Karol Czarkowski, sponsors Jozef and Anna Rogalinski at St. Hedwig Church, Milwaukee. There are a number of births recorded at St Hedwig's Church to Czarkowski, Cherkowski, Chirkowski, Chyrkowski, Zarnowski individuals between 1886 & 1892. Could some of these be Karol's brothers? Marriages & deaths were not checked on the LDS film (covering 1871-1920), after it was determined that the Priest did not record birthplaces.
An Obituary in the Milwaukee "Kuryer Polski" newspaper on June 27, 1905 for "Karol Czarkowski", age 60/ 3 mo., born in Jezerce, W. Prussa; Arrived in America in 1880, settled in Milwaukee. Lists 2 sons (Franciszki & Jozef), 3 daughters (Anna Milkowsak, Marta Guzinska, Augustyna F. Kosobucka), and wife Franciszka. The name onof the church shown is "St. Jadwiga" (today's St. Hedwig). I have been unable to find a name (from the German occupied area of West Prussia, now Poland) that matches up with a "Jezerce". A match would enable us to determine if the LDS (Church of Latter Day Saints) has microfilmed the Catholic church records in that town.
