 Creve Coeur- Harold E. Wantland, 86, of 520 Pekin Ave. died at 2:24 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2004 at Fondulac Woods Health Care Center in East Peoria.
 Born April 1, 1918, in Macon to Clarence and Velma Hall Wantland, he married Betty Jean Hagey on March 19, 1965, in Creve Coeur. She died April 23, 1990, in Peoria.
 Surviving are two sons, Micheal Hagey (and Shane McCardel) of Houston and David (and Elizabeth) Wantland of Sioux City, Iowa; two daughters, Beckie (and Larry Sr.) Dodillet of East Peoria and Patti (and M. Robert) Moyer of West Chester, Pa; one brother Ralph of Champaign; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
 He was a mechanic for Sturm Freightways in Peoria and later owned Wantland Truck Repair in East Peoria, retiring in 1985. He then portrayed Santa Claus at private parties and at Northwoods Mall in Peoria for 18 years. He last owned Grass and Trees Lawn Care Service in Creve Coeur.
 A memorial serice will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria, where family will receive friends two hours before. Cremation has been accorded.
 Memorials may be made to the South Side Mission or the Friends of FWA. -----
  note: in the obit, Harold had two biological children, David and Patricia. Michael and Becki are step children (children of his 3rd wife). Also Ralph Wantland lives in Urbana, not Champaign.

 Harold was living in Chicago, working as a truck driver, when he married Betty La Mar.
 He lived in Painesville, Ohio with Betty and Patty.
 He owned a garage in the Peoria area, specializing in heavy diesel engines.
