Note: Decatur Herald & Review 14 August 1994 Charles M. "Max" Renfro, 74, of Decatur died 3:33 a.m. Friday (Aug. 12, 1994) in St. Mary's Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday with an 8 p.m. Masonic service. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery. Memorials: donor's choice. Mr. Renfro was born Aug. 4, 1920 in Macon, the son of John A. and Esther Delene Richardson Renfro. He was a tool and die maker for Caterpillar Tractor Co. He was a member of the Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge 979 AF & AM. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He married Mildred Woodside on April 16, 1949. Surviving are his wife; sons, Richard and wife Linda of Federalsburg, Md.; James Robert and wife Margaret of Burbank, Calif.; daughter, Susan Chapman and husband David of Mount Zion; brother John J. of Decatur; sisters, Virginia Wantland of Urbana; Cathern Steele of Decatur; Magdalene Wood of Palatka, Fla.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Russel Dale Renfro and John Wayne Renfro, three brothers, one sister.
