Note: Palatka Daily News.com 4/24/2002 Isaac J. Woods Isaac J. Woods, 81, of Palatka, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2002 at Putnam Community Medical Center. He was born in Doctor Town, Ga., near Jesup, to the late Ada and Richard Woods and in 1926 the family moved to Brunswick. Mr. Woods was a World War II veteran who received medals such as the Distinquished Service Cross, Silver Star, Bronse Star, Distinquished Unit Badge, Purple Heart and others while serving with the Eight Army Air Corps. As a member of the 305th Bomb Squadron, he served in England and Belgium and under the much respected and later legendary Curtis E. Lemay. In 1959, Mr. Woods moved to Palatka where he gained employment as an oiler at Hudson Pulp and Paper Mill. Upon retiring after 32 years of service with Hudson, now Georgia-Pacific, his hobbies became fishing, gardening with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Clarence, Richard, and Luther Woods, all of Brunswick, Ga. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Magdalene Woods of Palatka; brother, Levi Woods of Brunswick, Ga.; aunt, the former Lilly Teston of Jesup, Ga.; his children, Michael Woods, Leslie Woods, Sandra Webber, Zandra Williams, Donald Woods and Gwendolyn Williams, all of Palatka, Arthur Woods of Los Angeles, Calif. and Patricia East of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Cindy Sykes, Eugene Webber, Curtis Webber, Jeremy Williams, Angela Williams, Richard East, Jason East, Laura East, Craig Williams, William Williams, Stacey Suggs, Jennifer Williams, and Steve Williams; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, at Watts Funeral Home, San Mateo, with the Rev. Bill wing officiating. Interment will follow in Pinelawn Cemetery, Mannville. Military honors will be bestowed. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 25 at the funeral home.
