E. RENFRO, 71, DALTON CITY, DIES IN CRASH Howard E. Renfro, 71, of Dalton City, died after his truck struck a tree on the southwest edge of Macon at about 4:45 p.m. yesterday. Mr. Renfro, a farmer, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Mary's Hospital at 5:15 p.m. A motorist who discovered the accident notified Mr. Renfro's son, Virgil, a Macon farmer. The younger Renfro said his father was dead when he arrived at the scene. The truck, a 1934 model, was loaded with wood. It left the road and struck a large tree just before an approach to a bridge. Apparently, no one saw the accident. Coroner Harold B. Brintlinger will hold an inquest. Mr. Renfro was brought to the hospital in an Ater ambulance. Mr. Renfro was born July 25, 1885, a son of Albert and Luthera Hill Renfro. Mr. Renfro had lived all his live in Macon County and had spent most of that time in Milam Township. He was married to Lilly Simpson, March 1, 1911. Mr. Renfro leaves his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Pauline Galloway of Pawnee and Mrs. Leona Randolph of Jerseyville, a son, Virgil, a brother, John of Decatur, three sisters, Mrs. Icy Spalding of Decatur and Mrs. Mamie Loomis and Mrs. Lena Seagle both of Nokomis and 10 grandchildren. Mr. Renfro was a member of South Macon Masonic Lodge 467, the Macon Methodist Church and since 1916 had been a director of the Mosquito Township Mutual Fire Insurance Co. He attended Millikin University in 1904 and Brown's Business College. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Macon Methodist Church with burial in Macon Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ater Memorial Home in Macon after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
