He came here five years ago from Dalton City, where he had operated a grocery store for 20 years. Since coming here he had been a night watchman at Richey’s market at 813 East Wood Street. Mr Cowger was a member of the Plainfield United Brethern church near Rose Hill and of Modern Woodmen lodge. He was born in Jasper county, Jan. 11, 1875, a son of David S and Lilly Cowger. He was married in Decatur on Aug 10, 1913 to Ollie Richardson, who died May 26, 1939. Mr Cowger leaves seven children, Cloral of Palatine, Mrs Ruth Stolle of Dalton City, Mrs Esta Cheeley and Mrs Lois Wilton, both of Decatur, and Sylvia, Vivian and Lorene Cowger, all at home; a brother, John, of Newton; three sisters, Mrs S E Brown of Chicago Heights, and Mrs Ellis Greer Harvey. He also leaves 10 grandchildren.The body will be taken from the Moran & Son’s funeral home to the family residence, where friends may call after 7 pm today. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 pm Friday in the United Brethern church in Dalton City with burial in the Macon Cemetery.
