 John Keller came to Illinois in 1833 with ox team, bringing household goods. Camping and cooking by the wayside at night . He drove 100 sheep and 50 cows to the new home. He came to Coles County and stayed three years. He then sold the property and came to Chesterfield Township. He entered a tract of good land, improved it into a fine farm and dwelt there many years, receiving from neighbors and associates the respect due an upright life. Finally Mr. Keller came to Chesterfield and spent his last days in honorable retirement. His wife's maiden name was Zilla Van Meter and she was a native of Grayson Co., Kentucky. He was buried in Kirby Cemetery...
