  Thomas M. Ramey
Mention was made in the last edition of this paper of the serious illness of Mr. Thomas M. Ramey, of Eminence, his disease being pneumonia. Hopes were then entertained for his recovery, but on Sunday he had a congestive chill and never rallied from it, dying about 6:30 Monday evening. By his death Henry County lost one of its most useful and most honored citizens.
For twenty years he had been identified with the business interests of Eminence, being at the time of his death a member of the firm of Ramey & Woodruff, furniture dealers and funeral directors.
Mr. Ramey was 49 years old (November 1, 1852 - December 16, 1901). He left a wife, who was Miss Gould before marriage, and two daughters and a son. There are two brothers surviving, James R. Ramey, Carroll and Walter Ramey of Tennessee. In religion he was a Baptist.
The funeral occurred Tuesday at 2 p.m. The services were conducted by Rev. William Nevins, assisted by Rev. O. M. Hurley, of Carroll County and Walter Ramey of Tennessee. The only sister is Mrs. R. L. Bond, Carroll County.
Henry County Local December 20, 1901
