  Dr. E. K. Vaubel
 Ellis Kendall Vaubel was born to Mabel Shafer and Oliver Vaubel May 5, 1914 in Dysart, Iowa. He attended schools there and graduated from Dysart High School in 1932. Dr. Vaubel received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Iowa. After an internship at Methodist Hospital ln Indlanapolis and further training at Michael Reese Hospital (Chicago), Dr. Vaubel initiated the blood bank program for the Iowa Department of Health. During World War II, Dr, Vaubel served in the US Army and established blood banks for the war effort in the United States and Cuba.
 In 1940, Dr. Vaubel married Helen Christensen in Royal, Iowa. After World War II, they made their home in Estherville where he practiced family medicine for 34 years. In retirement years Dr. Vaubel worked for an HM0 in Phoenix, Arizona. Since 1979, he has made his home at Okoboji, Iowa and Mesa, Arizona,
 Dr. Vaubel was active in many community organizations including Kiwanis and Emmet County Medical Society, He was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church (Estherville) Chief of Staff at Holy Family Hospital, a member of the Board of Directors of Okoboji Yacht Club, of the Iowa Medical Society and the American Medical Association.
 He is survived by his wife, Helen, one brother, Dean Vaubel (Dysart, Iowa), one sister, Helene Daub (Milwaukee, Wise),, four children: E. .K. Vaubel, Jr. (Sunrise Beach, MO), Mary Jean Montgomery (Spencer, IA), Christi Deck (St. Louis NO, and John Vaubel (Okoboji; Iowa); ten grandchildren and many relatives and friends
 A Memorial has been established at the University of Iowa Foundation, designated for the Pulmonary Diseases Research at the University of Iowa Medical School, Trinity Lutheran Church (Estherville) and Universlty of Okoboji Foundation, Donations to the University of Iowa Foundation ma, y be sent directly to:
