Note: Frankelva, the farm on which Norval and Margaret (Bond) Pierce lived (1932+ff), was probably one of the properties owned by Elva's grandparents, Valentine and Mary Nash. She received it as part of a partition of her mother's estate (her father being still alive and party to the partition): "SIXTH: A certain tract of land containing one hundred forty two & no/100 acres more or less on the right descending bank of Cane River known as the Charles Levy Tract bounded above by lands formally of C.E. Grenaux Lane of Lands of Tauguaque below by lands of P.S. Prudhomme, in the rear by lane of Williams Tract, being same acquired of C.E. Greneaux as per conveyance book 116 folio 556. The last above described property for the purpose of this partition, is known as lot No. six (6) of the Malinda Nash Partition and is valued herein in the sum of eight thousand five hundred twenty and no/100 dollars." [This property was on Mill Street, south of town, just past the cotton mill, and is that part of T9N-R7W that is listed in the Natchitoches Plat Book as that part of No. 74 owned by Ida N. Mauzerette. BE IT KNOWN, That on this the 30th day of April, 1947, that I, Elva Nash Bond, born Nash, wife of Frank Bond of lawful age, and a resident of the Parish of Orleans, State of Louisiana, in consideration of the benefits, uses, and advantages accruing to me, us, by reason of the location of Street in Natchitoches, State Project 835-13-02, State Highway, Route No. C-2099, as designated by Section 7 of Act 95 of Legislature of 1921, Extra Session, as amended by Act 15 of Legislature of 1930, Extra Session, and acts amendatory thereof, and for and upon such other terms and conditions or considerations gereinafter expressed, do hereby grant, transfer, assign, set over and deliver unto the State of Louisiana, and the Department of Highways, represented by Paul E. [actually N] Bond, does by these presents grant unto the Board of Commissioners of the Cane River Levee and Drainage District, the necessary right-of-way for the construction, maintenance and improvement of drainage facilities through and across my property in: Sections 74 and 75, Township 9 North, Range 7 West. The consideration for this grant is the expectations of benefits to said property as a result of the drainage improvement program. Natchitoches Times, Friday, 6 Jul 1951: Mrs Elva Nash Bond is Buried Here on Sunday Mrs. Elva Nash Bond, wife of the late R. Frank Bond, died at the Foundation Hospital in New Orleans at 9:45 p.m. June 29, where she had been a patient. Mrs Bond was the daughter of the late Capt. C. C. and Melinda Nash of Nathcitoches parish and City. She attended Northwestern State College and after graduating went to New Orleans as private secretary for W. B. Riley of the Luzianne Coffie Co. for a number of years. She was married a few years later to R. Frank Bond of the Vories Baking Co., New Orleans. Funeral services were held in new Orleans June 30 at 2:30 p.m. by her Pastor, Dr. Elder of the St. Charles Ave. Baptist Church, of which Mr. and Mrs. Bond were members. The remains were brought to the Blanchard Funeral Home in Natchitoches were a service was held at 9:30 a.m. July 1. Rev. Troy V. Wheller of First Baptist Church officiated. Mrs. B. S. Swett sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", and Mrs. Max Mallory and Mrs. R. W. Davis sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", accompanied by Mrs. Wheller at the organ. Burial was in the American Cemetery by the side of her husband. Pallbearers were J. H. and R. B. Williams, Edward P. Glover, R. W. Reddy, Hunter McNeely, Jr., and Vernon Cloutier. She is survived by four sister, Mrs. M. N. Stuart of Thibodaux, Mrs. Charles Mazurette of Alexandria, Mrs. Henry Davis of Big Springs, Texas, and Mrs. J. W. Watson of Princeton; three nieces, Mrs. Arnold Higdon of Thibodaux, Mrs. Edward Glover of Shreveport, and Mrs. R. W. Reddy of Ruston; one nephew, John Watson, who is overseas in service; one great niece, Janice Higdon; two aunts, Mrs. Elisa Payne Williams and Mrs. Ida Shephens Williams of Natchitoches. 17 Oct 1951, Natchitoches Parish Conveyances 215, pp. 105-106: No. 96054 Mrs. Elva Nash Bond To Mrs Ida Nash Mazurette. No. 306-859 Division "B" Docket #1 Sucession of Mrs. Elva Nash, widow of Richard Frank Bond. Judgement. This cause came on this day for hearing on petition of Mrs. Ida Nash, wife of Charles J. Mazurette, praying for recognition as universal legatee under the will of the decedent and for possession of the estate. The court considering the law and the evidence and being of the opinion that petitioner is entitled to the relief prayed for: It is ordered, adjudged and decreed that Mrs. Ida Nash, wife of Charles J. Mazurette, be and she is hereby recognized as the universal legatee under the will of the decedent, Mrs. Elva Nash, widow of Richard Frank Bond, as such entitled to all of the property belonging to the said decedent as describe in the inventories on file herein. It is further ordered, adjudged and decreed that the said Mrs. Ida Nash, wife of Charles J. Mazurette, be and she is hereby sent and put in possession of all of the property left by the decedent as described in the inventory taken by Carl. J. Schumacher, Jr., Notary Public for the Parish of Orleans, on July 15, 1951, and in the inventory taken by Richard B. Williams, Notary Public for the Parish of Natchitoches, dated July 30, 1951, copies of which are on file herein, the real estate of which being more fully described as follows, to-wit: A certain portion of ground, together with all the buildings and improvements thereon, and all the rights, ways, privileges, servitudes and advantages thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining, situate in the Seventh District of New Orleans in Square 313 bounded by Neron (formerly Napolean), Burdette, Sycamore (formerly Ninth) and Fern (formerly Washington) Streets, forming the corner Neron and Fern Streets, and measuring 50 feet front on Neron Street by 120 feet in depth and front on Fern Street. Being the same property acquired by Richard F. Bond by purchase from Union Homestead Association by act passed before W. Morgan Gurley on Jun 5, 1923, registered in C.O.B. 364, folio 416.
