Notes
a. Note:   DOB/DOM: Newspaper Article, Dysart paper
 DOD: Iowa Death Certificate 86-258
Paper states she was born in Collenden, but there is no such town, so is probably Caledon.
Data from research on Jane Stringer by Ulster Ancestors Feb 2009.
Church of Ireland Aghaloo, St. John's Caledon Baptisms 1825-1855 (MIC/1/326/A/1-4): Baptised 7 Aug 1836 Jane to John and Susan Stringer - he is a labourer - residing in the townland of Mullaghmossa. [The Dysart newspaper article indicates that she was born on 17 Jun 1838. While is is possible for her to have been born on Jun 17 and baptised 7 weeks later, it is not possible to have been born in any year but 1836].
1900 census states she came to the US in 1849
Ancestry.com immigration records: the ship Hannah Kerr, arriving May 5, 1849 into New York City from Belfast, Ire., contained the passengers: Jane Stringer (12 yo), James Stringer (15 yo) and Sarah Stringer (19 yo). These are the only Stringers on the Hannah Kerr, but the next passenger is Eliza Collins 18.
The bio of Andrew Milne (her husband) says that she lived a few years in Brooklyn before coming to Chicago, where they were married.

  From Laura L. Bruce, 2011:
Andrew Milne and Jane Stringer met in New York while Jane was a maid there, and you may know these other bits as well. One detail is that Susannah Zwilling had a hat shop while she was in Chicago. And the last bit (kind of gross) is that Jane Stringer loved to eat pork and had cysts in the muscles of her face, which my grandmother thought was caused by Trichinosis. This happened late in life, because she was very beautiful when she was younger.
