Milne & S.Zwelling 84 Have photo of her and Herm (and see) on Aug 21, 1949 November 5, 1953 State Center Enterprise [Newspaper of State Center, IA]: Mrs Susannah A Zwilling, pioneer Iowa resident and State Center's oldest living citizen, passed away at her home here early Monday morning following an illness of short duration. Death was caused from the infirmities of old age. She would have been ninety-three years old December 4th. Funeral services were held at the Brimhall West Funeral Home Wednesday, November 4, with the Rev Charles B Willming, pastor of First Presbyterian church, officiating. Interment was in the family lot at Hillside Cemetery. Mrs Zwilling was born at Dysart on December 4, 1869 [typo - this is 1860], the daughter of Mr and Mrs Andrew Milne. She attended the public schools at Dysart and as a young woman worked in a store in Waterloo. Several years later, she went to Des Moines where she became the buyer for a women's hat company. In 1889 she came to State Center and she and the late Alice E Dobbin opened a drygoods store. On January 12, 1899 she was married to Daniel Zwilling, State Center business man. Mrs Zwilling was a membr of the First Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Aid Society. Mr and Mrs Zwilling moved to Austin, a suburb of Chicago in 1900 and they lived there until 1917. While making their home in Illinois, Mrs Zwilling was active in the affairs of the Presbyterian Church and Ladis Aid Society. Mr Zwilling died on June 11, 1917. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs Anthony Rud of Sheffield, Mass and one stepson Daniel of Lombard, Illinois. She is also survived by two brothers, Herman and James Milne, both of Dysart, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Zwilling, has filed his second and final report and accounting and application for discharge in the office of the Clerk of the District Court of Iowa, in and for Marshall County and that by an order of the said Court, the hearing of said report and application has been fixed for March 17, 1956 at nine o'clock in the morning, in the east Court-room in the Courthouse in Marshalltown, Iowa at which time and place you can appear and show cause, if any you have, why said report should not be approved and why on compliance with the further orders of said Court, this executor should not be discharged from further duty and responsibility as such executor and his bond exonerated.
