Note: The biography of Andrew Milne states that his brother who went to California was named John. Mary Vaubel, when marking the photographs of Lyle's Aunt and Uncle Milne was unsure of whether it was David or John, but was sure that the Aunt was Sarah. Whereas there is a John Milne who moved from Chicago to California, he died 1870-1880 (and therefore could not have had his photo taken in Chicago in 1884, and also had a wife named Margaret. The Milne who did stay in Chicago past the 1880 census, then moved to California was this David Milne, and his wife was named Sarah. The final and most convincing evidence is that this David's son Wm. H. and grandchildren Cora and Robert F. are buried in the Graceland (Chicago) plot owned by his father, David Milne Sr. According to Minnie (Milne) Reichenbach, his daughter, in the 1910 census, the native tongue of her parents was Gaelic.
