 The Caroline M. Goodlett Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy are to give a Southern dance and card party at the Rock Ridge Women's clubhouse on Keith avenue next Saturday evening, September 24. It is to be a benefit affair, the proceeds going into a fund for their educational and relief activities among the Confederate soldiers who reside in the Bay region.
 In the receiving line for the evening party will be Mrs. W.D. Young, president of the local chapter, Mrs. Roselle Williams of Rock Ridge, first vice-president; Mrs. R.B. Splane of Broadmoor, San Leandro, second vice-president; Mrs. Maynie B. Smith, corresponding secretary of the California division of the U.D.S.; Mrs. R.D. Wadsworth, Mrs. Ione Jones, Mrs. R,E, Winstandly [LSP note: Album 3 image 46 features a Mrs. Winstandly with Frank and Elva Bond, and Album 4 image 90 features a Mrs. Winstandly with Julia Bond Spalding and Maynie Bond Smith] and Mrs. W.R. Dorsey.
 From the younger set, hostesses will be taken and include Miss Irene Castle, Miss Mariella Laidley, Miss Virginia Lee Jones and Miss Cosette Campbell. Mrs. L.W. Cox will be hostess for the card players, while Mrs. George R. King as general floor manager for the dance will be assisted by Mr. King and W.R. Dorsey.
 Variety dancing by Miss Evelyn Bostic, humorous readings by Mrs. Harold Thompson, and solos by Mrs. Theodore Hughes, contralto, are among the specialities planned for the evening.
 University of California men are contributing the orchestra for dancing.
