The census taker alternates between writing Miller and Millen, so it is not clear what it is, but Isabella suggests Millen. 3 Millen households which are near a Nathan Wilder household. A Nathan Wilder or Welder was next to David Mellan in 1860, but the ages and birthplaces of the two Nathan Wilders do not match. Probably the census taker was lax, as Nathan is not a common name. In that case, these Millens are probably kin of David (brothers or sisters in law), maybe living on or near the land he bought from Illinois (see above). [these Milnes are not directly related to my line, who are, nevertheless, in Bloom Twp in 1860]. 1860 census, Bloom Tnsp, Cook Co., IL, film 0,803,169 (Dyer Station) p. 98: David Mellan 64 farmer 1600/350 Scotland; Isabella 66 Scotland. Hard to believe, but Andrew's bio confirms that he lived in Bloom Twp before coming to Iowa). [1870 census, Bloom Tnsp, Cook Co.
