[may or may not be the same immigrant; what's right: age of Harm, association with Janssen (his mothers maiden name); what's wrong: he's not a baker, wife is Martha, not Maria and wrong age, "L" in last name.] Shirley Backer: Harm Backer born in Ostfriesland. He married Megalina Jansson also born in Ostfriesland. They had 1 son, Jacob Harm Backer born on August 28, 1851. Harm [Jacob Harm, that is] came to the US with his uncle Tonjes around 1873. Harm married Motje Defreese in 1884. I don't know what Motje means, maybe Mary? And maybe megalina was spelled differently in Germany [LSP: Magdalena is the normal spelling].[this seems to indicate that Harm Backer, the father of Jacob Harm Backer, stayed in Ostfriesland, which means that his father is a different one than the one who came in 1851.]
