Notes
a. Note:   One worldconnect has her middle name as Ahart.
1840 census: Russell Co., KY, p. 19: Nancy Pierce is the widow of Ephraim Pierce, Jeremiah S. Pierce's uncle (who married Nancy Blankenship): males: 1 - 10-15, 1 - 15-20, females: 2 - 5-10, 1 - 40-50; next door is Polly Carnes; 3 doors away is George Blankenship; Polly Carnes is probably Polly Pierce, wife of Ralph Carnes, she is 40-50 here. Jane is not here.
1840 census: Wayne Co., KY, location not stated, p. 53 of 76 Ancestry.com: Nancy Pierce no males, females: 2 - 10/15, 1 - 40-50. Mary O. Pierce would have been 25 and probably already married and in Jefferson Co., TN, so if this is Jane, she has 2 unidentified daughters and no familiar surnames nearby, so it likely is not her.
Sometime after Jeremiah Pierce's death, she moved, with her children,to Jefferson Co., TN, where she married her 2nd husband, A.B. McFarland. Jeremiah's brother, Joel, had married Mary McFarland, who was born in Jeffereson Co., TN. Maybe the marriage was a setup.
1840 census, Jefferson Co., Tennessee: Stephen A. Hall 1-0-1-1-0-0-1(40-50)-0-0-0-1(80-90) / 1-2-1-0-0-1-2-1(50-60)-0-0-1(80-90)-1(90-100). There are lots of folks here, and this is the household where Mary Ferrell, Jane's daughter, is living in 1850, so it is possible that the Pierces were living with her brother in 1840.
