John Scott came to Philadelphia in 1788, converted from Presbyterian to Baptist in 1790; his whereabouts from 1790-1803 is unknown, supposedly KY, but he married Jane Sneed in 1795, and she was from near Caroline Co., V
He was the pastor of Ghent Baptist Church, White's Run Baptist Church and others 1803-1833.
Buried originally in the Ghent Baptist Churchyard, then removed to the Masonic
 cemetery. Another Masonic connection.
A record of the marriage has not been found. Kathryn Salyers of Carrollton, KY wrote that it was Gallatin, although Gallatin had not been formed at the time. It is not in Woodford, KY or Caroline, VA, either.
John Scott was appointed surveyor of Gallatin Co. 1808 (Gallatin Co., KY Deeds
A1, p. 520 - bond with Nathaniel Sanders, Joshua Baker, Samuel C. Sneed and
 Moses Ray).
John Scott's will is in Carroll Co. Wills, 1846 (have copy of the original). Also have copies of a number of other letters (from Kathryn Salyers, Carrollton).
John accumulated a large number of parcels of land, probably as payment for
surveying the land, so he is featured heavily in Gallatin Co. Deed Book
