Note: Bio notes: Ackley - Bena "Elizabeth" Rops Dietz, 96, of Ackley died Thursday December 22 at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. She was born June 23, 1915, in Aplington, daughter of Peter and Martha Harken Rops. She married Everett Dietz on July 25, 1946. He died in 1990. She attended schools in Austinville and Aplington, graduating in 1933. She worked at Peoples Store, Austinville Savings Bank, Santa Claus Industries and American Heritage, retiring in 1977. Survived by: a daughter, Martha Blanchard (Jerry) Fredericksen; two grandaughters; and four grandchildren. Prededed in death by; a son, David; two brothers, John Rops and Ubbe Rops; and two sisters; Margaret Henkel and Mae Jacobs. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, December 28, at the Austinville Christian Reformed Church, with burial in the Garden of Memories in Waterloo. The Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley, is in charge of the arrangements. Elizabeth (Rops) Dietz, was born on June 23, 1915 at Aplington, the daughter of Peter and Martha Harken Rops. She attended schools in Austinville and Aplington, graduating in 1933. She worked at the Peoples Store and Austinville Savings Bank before being married to Everett Dietz on July 25, 1946. She later worked at Santa Claus Industries and American Heritage, retiring from there in 1977. Elizabeth was a member of the AMVET Auxiliary #19 and the Austinville Historical Society. After the death of Everett in 1990, she moved from Waterloo to Ackley to be near her daughter and family. In November 2008, she moved to the Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David; her husband; her two brothers, John Rops and Ubbe Rops; and her two sisters, Mae Jacobs and Margaret Henkel. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Blanchard Fredericksen and son-in-law, Jerry Fredericksen; two granddaughters, Jamarie Blanchard and Julie Twedt and her husband, David, both of Eldora; and four great-grandchildren, Jeremy Twedt and his wife, Alisha of Alden, Caleb Blanchard, Stephanie Rush and Amanda Twedt.
