Note: Bio notes: Daughter of Henry & Edith Callaghan Kemp Berenice Dietz Patten, 95, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, August 30, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born October 1, 1915 in Cresco, daughter of Henry and Edith Callaghan Kemp. She married Wallace L. Dietz, Sr. on December 8, 1934 in Waterloo. He died October 27, 1958. She married Carl Patten on July 28, 1962 in Nashua. He died August 3, 1971. Berenice was employed with Webbeking Bakery for many years and was active with the Eagles Auxillary for 45 years. Survivors include: two daughters, Patty (Jack) Jennings of Waterloo and Karen (Bill) Bergan of Ames; two sons, Wally (Becky) Dietz and Dennis (Barb) Dietz, both of Waterloo; a step daughter-in-law, Cheryl Patten of Jesup; 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Paul Kemp of Iowa City. Preceded in death by: a step son, Jim Patten; two sisters, Clementine Jeffries and Alice Kemp; and two brothers, Edward and Clarence Kemp.
