  Oliver suffered from emphysema for years and lived his last while in treatment in Little Rock at the Veteran's Hospital, Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas. Funeral was held at the Belleview Missionary Baptist Church in his home community of Ethel, Arkansas, Arkansas.

 Carew Oliver McSwain
  Carew Oliver McSwain, aged 68, died at the Veterans Hospital in little Rock Sept 30 [1979]. He was a farmer, a World War II veteran and a Missionary Baptist.
  Survivors are his wife Bertie Dumond McSwain; three sons, George McSwain of Dallas, Texas, Frank and Rickey McSwain of Little Rock; one daughter Edith Marie Jenkins of Nairobi, Kenya; two sisters, Gladys Dempsey and Bernice James, both of St Charles.
  Funeral was held at 2:30 pm Oct 2 [1979] at Belleview Baptist Church [Ethel, Arkansas County, Arkansas] with Rev Creed Rush officiating. Burial was in Mt Pleasant Cemetery [Ethel] by Essex Funeral Home.
