 125th Anniversary Church History Book; 1st Baptist Church., Ellinwood, KS 2004: Herman was the son of Henry and Louise (Lekband) Fischer. After Herman's wife, Katherine died, his sister and brother-in-law, Emma and John Dennelbohm too the boys (4, 2, and 1 yrs. old). After Herman married Hannah Witt, Donald and Edward returned to their father's home. Harold remained with the Dannebohms until he married.

 1900 census KS, Barton Co., Comanche twp., pg 4A (122) shows Henry & Lousia Fischer with their children John, Henry, Emma, Mary, Martha, and Herman. Henry, Louisa, John and Henry, Jr. were born in Germany. The other children were born in KS. Herman is shown as 8 yrs. old in this census.
  1910 census KS, Barton Co., Comanche twp., pg 2B (162) shows Henry & Lousia Fischer with their children Henry and Herman. Herman is shown as 19 yrs. in this census.
  1920 census KS, Barton Co., Comanche twp., pg 1A (47) shows Herman and his first wife, Katherine and all three sons.
  These census show Herman as born in KS. It is assumed it was Barton Co. near Ellinwood, KS. He married in 1914 in Ellinwood, and lived there in 1920 so it is also assumed that all three of his boys were born near Ellinwood.
