a. Note:   He was a mailman in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. They used to deliver mail twice a day. He retired because of a back injury.
 He also played the organ at Emmanual Lutheran Church in Pottstown, Pennsylvania
 Every Christmas he would devote one whole room in his house to build a little Christmas village with trains, houses, and more.
 His parents Isaac and wife Clara lived all of their married years at 550 Willow St., Pottstown, Pennsylvania This house was passed down to their son Earl H. who passed it down to their son Richard and daughter Doris. Doris and Richard lived there until their death when the house was sold. There was a Strouse at that address for over 100 years.

 Earl Strouse, Former Mail Carrier, Dies
 Earl H. Strouse Sr., 66, widower of Edith (Halteman) Strouse, 550 Willow Street, died Sunday evening in Memorial Hospital where he was a patient for one week.
 Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Isaac and Clara (Hoffman) Strouse.
 He lived here all his life. He was a U.S. mail carrier in Pottstown for 22 years and retired in 1941 because of ill health.
 Mr. Strouse was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the North End Fire Company.
 He is survived by three sons, Earl H. Jr., 357 Walnut Street; Ronald W., 1062 Hale Street, and Richard H., 550 Willow Street; one daughter, Doris Mae, 550 Willow Street, and seven grandchildren.
 Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family on Friday at the Wilson Funeral Home, 711 North Franklin Street. The Rev. Luther A. Krouse, pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, will officiate, and burial will be in Pottstown West End Cemetery.
