a. Note:   HORACE BECHTEL
 Horace Bechtel, former Amityville grocer and restaurateur, died last night at 8:30 o´clock in the home of a son, John Bechtel, 815 North Charlotte Street, of a complication of ailments. He had been ailing the past two months and had been bedfast three weeks. Until he moved to Pottstown a year ago, Mr. Bechtel resided at Amityville where he conducted a grocery and restaurant business ten years. Prior to that time he worked as stove molder at Granders Stove company, Royersford. Aged 63 years, 5 months and 15 days. Mr. Bechtel was born in Pikeville, Berks County, a son of the late Frank and Amanda (Wentzel) Bechtel. He had resided in this vicinity the past 30 years. Mr. Bechtel served as elder in St. Paul´s Reformed church, Amityville, five years. He relinquished his membership in that church when he came to Pottstown and joined Zion´s Reformed church. Mr. Bechtel was a member of Pottstown lodge of Moose, Allentown council of Independent Americans, West End Fire Company, Stowe, and Sanatoga grange. Children surviving are: Mamie wife of Alex Besson, Farmington, Me.; Emma, wife of William I. Ashworth, Stowe; John, at home; Charles , Amityville, Jennie, wife of Robert L. Ashworth, Lynchburg, George, Dorothy, wife of Paul Smith, Amityville. Twenty-one grandchildren and a great-grandchild and a step brother, Peter W. Carl, Allentown, also survive. Funeral arrangements are in charge of Directors H. R. Houck and Son.
