Notes
a. Note:   HE DROPPED DEAD
Sudden End of David G. Hoffman This Afternoon
Retired Citizen Had Walked to the Home of Friends, and Expired Soon after His Arrival
 Native of Berks County
David G. Hoffman, No. 546 Willow Street, an esteemed citizen who has been living retired from active duties for several years, dropped dead at one o´clock this afternoon, in the home of Henry H. Saltzer, No. 419 York street. Mr. Hoffman had gone to the Saltzer home to carry some apples there, and shortly after his arrival there, he fell dead. Help was summoned but nothing could be done for the stricken man. An attack at the heart was probably the cause of his sudden end. He was an elderly man and nearing three score and ten. Although in good general health, yet for a year or more past he had failed somewhat in bodily vigor. There was nothing to indicate a sudden end of his life. His wife, who survives, had been in a serious condition and the shock from her husband´s death, maybe fatal to her. Until a few years ago, Mr. Hoffman lived on a farm near Mauger´s mill. He was a native of Douglass township, Berks county, and son of the late Samuel Hoffman. He was a brother to Lovina, widow of David Weidner, of Earl, Berks county; Henry G.; Ephraim G. of Phoenixville; Charles G., of Pottstown, and Jonathan G. of Douglass, Berks county. There are five children - Irwin, of Mauger´s Mill; Mrs. Clara Strouse, this borough; Harriet, wife of Irvin Wise, Ringing Hill; Sallie, wife of Wm. Hartline, and Annie, wife of Henry Dearolf, this borough.
