Notes
a. Note:   Transcript of the death notice of John Ferguson from a Cornwall newspaper.
John Ferguson of Grant Corners, one of the oldest citizens of this section, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 6, (1910) aged 84 years. The deceased was born on the Ferguson homestead on which he died. He was the son of the late Duncan Ferguson, a member of one of the staunch old United Empire Loyalists families, who gave up comparative wealth in the Mohawk Valley of New York State, rather than forswear King George, Sassenach-German though he was. In his youth the deceased married Miss Jane Bush, daughter of the late Philip Bush of Osnabruck, who survives him with three sons and two daughters: Mrs. Peter MacGregor*, St. Elmo; Mrs. R. J. Craig **, Glen Walter; Alex Ferguson, on the homestead; Albert Ferguson, Grant Corners, and John Ferguson, barrister, Saskatoon, Sask. The latter is one of the most successful real estate dealers of Saskatchewan. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon from the old homestead, Grant Corners, to Woodlawn Cemetery, Cornwall. Rev. Dr. Harkness of Knox church, Cornwall, the deceased's pastor, officiated at the service.
