Note: Was an Eagle Scout and an active member of B'nai B'rith, Optimists, and Lakeshore Curling Club. Coached Little League baseball. Member of Manitowoc Elks Club and won Exhaulted Ruler golf championship (1967) Byron died on January 30, 1977 just before midnight. 1/30/77 corresponds with Shevat 12, 5737 since it was after sundown. The parsha of the week is Be-Shallah. Byron V. Schwartz SSN: 392-26-3548 Last Residence: 54220 Manitowoc, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, United States of America Born: 20 Apr 1931 Died: 30 Jan 1977 State (Year) SSN issued: Wisconsin (Before 1951 ) From Bob Schwartz 2017: We continue to go through our memorabilia. We came across a "memory box" and there was a letter in it from my mother to my great aunt Lillian (my maternal grandmother's sister so my mother's aunt). It was dated February 27, 1949 so I was fourteen and Byron was 18. I am going to quote a couple of paragraphs from the latter. "Byron graduates this June from high school, and much conversation this year has been about university, and what he wants to do. From meteorology and geology, it has become forestry. Wisconsin U. has only two years, but is connected with the Forest Products Laboratory, the only one of its kind in the world. He's going to start at Madison in pre-forestry, and then we'll see what will develop." "Bob is a very busy fellow. Continues to take piano lessons and enjoys his music. He' been keeping rather late hours recently. He wouldn't miss a school dance (!) and has his scout meetings, civic music concerts, masque plays, and always something it seems. He isn't as devoted to scouting as Byron, but guess he likes it. You know he doesn't volunteer too much, but I hear reports from here and there. He's much more of an all-round guy than Byron. Byron is devoted and conscientious to his few interests. He has just begun to attend some of the "Valley" dances around here, of the Jewish youth, and writes to a girl (occasionally) in Fond Du Lac." BTW, that explanation point is my mother's - not mine. Would either of you want to own the original? There are also a number of pictures from that era. I think most of the are duplicates of pictures you probably have (or had), but if there is interest let me know. I guess I am improving, but my mood tends to go up and down depending on how I feel about it (the recovery). I haven't tried to tackle walking up and down the hill from the condo, but I am walking in the garage which is flat if very boring. Thankfully I have my podcasts to listen to. Herluf remains very helpful and concerned. He can get anxious when I am not where he expects me or if I am a little late. After what he went through it is understandable."
