a. Note:   The family arrived in Auckland from London in 1911 - ship as yet unknown. The 5 June 1925 divorce petition states that the couple lived together in Birkenhead and Oldham in England, and in Auckland. It alleges that from 1915 William was a habitual drunkard, that he habitually left Margaret without means of support, and that he had been guilty of cruelty towards her. William was served with the petition on 23 July 1925 but did not defend it. Decree Nisi was granted on 4 December 1925 and Decree Absolute on 29 September 1933. Described as a Patient on his burial record, which would indicate that he was in a hospital when he died.
