On 21 Dec. 1916, he married Ruth Burdette and together they had three children - Ruth Moore Evans (b. 1918), Bruce Towles Evans (b. 1923) and James Robert Evans. Daddy Earl became Chief engineer of the Alcoa plant in Alcoa, TN. According to the 1930 Census (Tenessee), Earl worked as a machinist in a sheet mill.
