Text:   Newton L. (Jack) Maxted, 83, of 630 West Loucks Street, widely known old timer, died Monday at the Sheridan County Memorial Hospital of a
 heart aillment. Maxted had been ill about two weeks. Resident of
 Sheridan for 31 years, Maxted came here from Iowa and first worked
 here as a lather and plasterer. Later he was employed by E. G. Guyer
 in the Merchants cafe. After a short time he became a member of the
 Sheridan police force, and a few years later was employed by Oscar
 Thielen as a bar tender. In 1921 he moved to Dutch Creek where he
 farmed until 1936 when he returned to Sheridan to work for C. M.
 Bayless at the Mission Bar. He worked there for one year and from
 that time until about a month ago he was employed at the Silver
 Dollar. He was a member of the Eagles, and the Bartenders' local.
 Maxted is survived by his wife, Mrs. Newton L. Maxted; three sons,
 Wayne, James and Edward Maxted, three daughters, Myrtle, Louise, and
 Geraldine Maxted; and two sisters, Mrs. M. M. Vaughn of West Hartford,
 CT, and Mrs. Jennie Mumper of Percival, IA. Arrangements for funeral
 services which will be under the direction of the Champion Funeral
 Home, have not been completed.
