Note: WW 1 veteran, Distinguished Service Cross contracted tuberculosis in France, died of pneumonia in 1931 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AWARDED UNDER AUTHORITY OF THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Emil Buckendahl (ASN: 1419977), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company F, 127th Infantry Regiment, 32d Division, A.E.F., near Gesnes, France, 5 October 1918.
