Note: The Mercury (Hobart, Tas. : 1860 - 1954), Monday 8 October 1945, page 6 OBITUARY Mr A. W. Adams The death took place at Hobart on Friday of Mr Andrew Wield Adams, chartered accountant." He was in his 79th year. Coming to Tasmania from Cumberland (England) in early youth with his father, Mr Joseph Adams, he' entered the legal firm of Dobson, Mitchell, and Allp'ort, and served for many years as clerk. . He subsequently became accountant to Simmons, Crisp, and Simmons (now Simmons, Wolfhagen, Simmons,, and Walch). In 1910, he began accountancy on his own. In 1919, with Mr C. A. Bennetto, he established the accountancy firm of Adams, Son, and Bennetto, having associated with him his son, Mr Leslie Adams,- now of Imperial Chemical Industries, Melbourne. - He "was one oL.the original councillors of the Chartered Institute of ?Accountants In Australia. He retired from business in 1939. He married in 1893 Miss Elizabeth Jarvis, of Hobart. He is survived by his wife, son, and brother. Mr Joseph Adams, until recently Deputy Commissioner of Taxes in Victoria Another brother, the late Mr John Adams, for many years was secretary of the Hobart Marine Bd. A skilled accountant and auditor he had the esteem and confidence of his professional colleagues and wat' the trusted adviser of many of Hobart's big business and industrial concerns. He was a devotee of the arts and a proficient water colourist. The cremation will take place at Cornelian Bay today.
