The ship manifest showed that he was born in Kiltimagh, and that he was 5' 8" tall, dark complexion, with black hair and blue eyes. His occupation is listed as laborer. It also showed him to have been in-country five years prior ( 1902) in Pittsburgh, but I have no idea as to why he would have been there...there were no Vizzards from Ireland shown in Pittsburgh in either the 1900 census or
the 1910 census.

Death notice in the "Philadelphia Enquirer" shows John Vizzard to have died in Philadelphia on December 17, 1908. He was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery following a requiem Mass at St. Elizabeth's Church. It lists his age as 55. There was an "corrected copy after inquest" certificate of death that shows a date of death as December 18, 1908. This certificate lists cause of death as "congestion of lungs complicated by broken ribs, injuries received at the hands of one person or persons unknown". This certificate also shows his fathers name to have been John Vizzard, born in Ireland, and his mothers name to have been Catherine (last name not fully legible, could be Lofton or Layton). Address shown at death is 1809 N. Lambert St. Place of death is shown as 1824 Lambert St. Age is shown as 59.
