U.S. World War II Army Enlistment Records, 1938-1946 [database on-line]. --------------------------------- Billy was Listed in the 1939 Polk City Directory (Montgomery, AL page 347) as renting at 413 Clayton Street with Dorothy, and employed as a clerk at Johnson Tire and Supply Company. The 1940 Polk Directory (page 838) lists him owning "Kilgore Service Station" at 100 High Street (page 379), and living at his own home at 305 Madison Avenue with Dorothy. In 1941 He and Dorothy were shown at 307 S. Madison Terrace, and he was working with Goodrich Silvertown Stores; Dorothy was working at Shulman's Bakery. (1941 Polk Directory page 284) Page 118 of the 1946 Polk Directory shows William and Dorothy living at 209 West Street (Oak Park). Billy Was killed by his next door neighbor, Duward Gilbert Ausborn, in April of 1947 over a parking dispute.
