a. Note:   ear Elizabethtown, NJ, where he married his wife Elizabeth. After their marriage they returned to Orange Co, NY. Lodowick enlisted 26 Nov 1775. He was called out frequently to meet the British and guard the frontier. He was in the Battle of Monmouth, being Deputy Quartermaster, having charge of the baggage wagons near the noted spring of Coldwater. The weather was extremely hot, and many men lay down to drink and never rose to their feet again. The exposure to which Lodowick Dobbin was subjected, by being frequently being called out in cold and stormy weather, without shelter, broke him down and he was confined to his bed for more than a year before he died January 1781, age about 42 years.
