Note: rched in a ticker-tape parade in New York as part of the honor guard for President Truman. Then he was sent to St Louis where he lived on an old river boat and cooked. The war ended before he was shipped overseas. Roger went to Northern Illinois University for a year where he met and married another French horn player, Mary Whitford. He went to Iowa State for two years where Craig was born and then to the University of Michigan part time while he worked at Argus. He also went to the University of Rochester while he was working. Roger spent 20 years working as an optical engineer which took him to jobs in Ann Arbor, Rochester NY, Los Angeles suburbs, and northern New Jersey before returning to Ann Arbor. He designed optical systems for cameras, telescopes, satellites and such. Roger then changed careers and joined Mary at her Real Estate office. Roger then retired to Florida and divorced Mary. He re-met and then married Mary Strock who had attended school in Sterling where Roger had grown up. Mary had two children and five grandchildren to go along with the 3 children and 8 grandchildren that were from the first marriage. Roger and Mary tired of the beach and all that sun and moved to North Carolina and a house on a mountaintop with a view of the Blue Ridge.
