a. Note:   a at the age of 16. He fought in the Burgoyne Campaigne at Saratoga where he was slightly wounded. He afterwards served in various organizations during the war and was called out on special emergency. Walter Taylor was also an officer in the war of 1812 and served from 1812-1815, first as an Ensign, then Lieut . Capt and Major. His widow drew a pension as a result of his military services as "private and corporal in the New York troops for 8 months and 13 days." He served under Sgt. John Wimple, Capt. John Mynderson, Capt. Thos Banker, Capt. John Van Slyck, Capt. Joel Gillett, Capt. Geo. Young, and Col. Wimple.
  The application for pension was made 4 June 1840 by Anna (Bradt) Taylor when she was 72 years old.
  Military record of Walter Taylor (Grandfather of E.H. C. Taylor) who was a soldier of the Revolutionary War.
 "Widows' pension was alloawed for his actual services as private and corporal in the New York troops for 8 months and 13 days, and the following are mentioned as officers under whom he served: Sergt. John Wimple, Capt. John Mynderson, Capt. thos. Banker, Capt. John Van Slyck, Capt. Joel Gillett, Capt. Geo. Young, and Colonel Wimple.
  Battles engaged in - was probably in campaign against Burgoyne.
 Residence of soldier at enlistment - Schenectady, N.Y.
 Date of application for pension - by widow, June 4, 1840.
 Residence at date of application: of widow, Schenectady, N.Y.
 Age at date of application: of widow, 72 years.
  Remarks: He married Anna Bradt August 29th 1787 and died in October 1830."
