Edgefield SC, Sept. 22 - Joseph P. Ouzts died at his home here this morning. He has been a great sufferer for nearly two years, having spent much time in Baltimore and other places in efforts to regain his health. About two months of the past summer were spent in the mountains of NC with some benefit. But within the past week his strength began to fail very decidedly. His family and friends have known however for some time that he would never be well again. Mr. Ouzts is largley connected throughout the county. Besides serving as postmaster here for the past six years, he had considerable business interests which he has successfully managed. He was a member of the methodist church and also connected with several fraternal orders, He is buried in the city cemetery. Mr. Ouzts is survived by his wife and five sons, William Ouzts. Percy Ouzts, Watson Ouzts, Robert Ouzts, and Byrnes Ouzts, and one daughter, Miss Edith Ouzts. The State, September 23, 1917.
