TRIBUTE TO THE MEMORY OF MRS. MINNIE LYNCH OUZTS by James T Bacon, The Edgefield Chronicle, August 15, 1907 A very noble and beloved Christian woman, who lived her sunny girlhood in Edgefield, is dead - Mrs. Minnie Lynch Ouzts, of Johnston. She died on Tuesday and was buried at Johnston on Wednesday. She was a daughter of Dr. Aaron Lynch, a very prominent and honored citizen of Abbeville county in antebellum days, while her mother was a member of the well known and intellectually gifted Posey family of Abbeville. Mrs. Ouzts was 48 years of age and leaves 7 children: Misses Andrena, Nina, and Addie, and Messrs. Wilmot Benjamin, David T., William L., and Rowland H Ouzts. Her husband, David T. Ouzts, Esq., Cashier and a Director of the Bank of Johnston, preceded her to the grave by two years. She was an exemplary Christian woman beyond all comparison. Her whole life was one constant endeavor to seize every opportunity that would lead to a higher level of life's noble service and the spread of Christ's kingdom upon earth. Johnston SC, Aug. 13 - Mrs. Minnie Ouzts, widow of D. T. Ouzts, died today in Columbia. Her body was brought to Johnston. The burial takes place tomorrow. Mrs. Ouzts is survived by one brother, Mr. Addie Lynch of Alabama, and six children. The State, August 14, 1907. Johnston SC, Aug. 13 [1907] - The body of Mrs. Minnie Ouzts was brought to Johnston this afternoon from Columbia where she died this morning [August 14, 1907] at 9 am after a years illness. The remains were accompanied home by her son and daughter, Mr. Wilmot Ouzts and Miss Nina Ouzts, who were called to her bedside by telegram. Mrs. Ouzts was the widow of the late D. T. Ouzts and lady greatly beloved in our town for her high Christian character. The burial takes palce tomorrow (Wednesday morning) at 10 o’clock.
