  She died at her home in Graniteville where she had lived for 58 years. The funeral was at the Graniteville Baptist Church and she was buried in Graniteville. The Edgefield Advertiser, stated that Mrs. Hamilton was left a widow when her husband was killed at the battle of Atlanta, leaving her with five small children. Her three daughters preceded her in death and her two surviving sons were John Anthony and James Pleasant. She was survived also by one sister, Mrs. Martha Ouzts. The death notice said she had reared three families of motherless grandchildren, and at her death there were 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Hamilton was loved and highly esteemed by all who knew her. She was an interesting talker and young people especially loved her and liked to visit her.
