  Mrs. Martha Emma Carter, 83, died yesterday at the residence in Graniteville, SC after an illness of six weeks. She had been a resident of Graniteville for the last 65 years. She is survived by her husband, John W. Carter; three daughters, Mrs. Annie Smith and Mrs. Ada C. Ramsey of Graniteville, and Mrs. Janie C. Peterson of Sarasota FL; two sons, R. B. Carter of Graniteville and C. E. Carter of Graniteville; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
