  Greenwood SC, Aug. 14 - W. D. N. Ouzts, prominent citizen and official of Riegel Textile Corporation, died suddenly today at Ware Shoals. He was 59 and a native of Greenwood County, the son of the late Peter D. and Amanda Hamilton Ouzts. He was assistant secretary of Riegel Textile Corporation, a position he held since formation of the company. Prior to the consolidation of the Ware Shoals Manufacturing Company with the Trion Company forming the present Riegel Textile Corporation in 1946, Mr. Ouzts was secretary and member of the board of directors of the Ware Shoals Manufacturing Company. Mr. Ouzts went to Ware Shoals in 1919 and joined the accounting department of the old company. He was rapidly advanced to office manager and other official capacities. Mr. Ouzts was a charter member of the Quarter Century Club having at the time of his death 33 years of continuous service with Riegel. He had been a member of the Greenwood County Electric Power Commission since its formation. He also was a trustee of the Ware Shoals school district for many years. He was a member of Ware Shoals Masonic Lodge No. 306, a member of the Ware Shoals Methodist Church, senior trustee and steward of the official church board and teacher of the Men’s Bible class. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emmie H. Ouzts, three children, Mrs. George Speed of Columbia, Miss Ruth Ouzts of Alexandria LA, and Lt. Dan Ouzts, serving with the USAF overseas, and three grandchildren; one brother, M. C. Ouzts of Greenwood, and one half brother, M. P. Ouzts of Callison.
