a. Note:   CARL W. (WIZ) WOODWARD
 Carl W. Woodward, 78, retired tobacconist, 1202 Werner Ave., died at 9:25 a.m., Wednesday at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after a long illness. For 38 years he was connected with the local tobacco industry, starting as a clerk in 1918, and retiring in 1956. He was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral. Born at Curdsville, July 1887, he had lived in Owensboro and Daviess County all of his life. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ida Lee Woodward; four daughters, Mrs. Helen Keelin, Mrs. Margaret Maglinger, Mrs. Jean Smith, Mrs. Ethel Coffman, three sons, E.L., C.T., and W.T., 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Kate Payne, Mrs. Evelyn Sparks, Mrs. Cecilia Stone, Mrs. Grace Jennings, and four brothers, Joe, Mike, James and William Woodward all of Owensboro. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen Cathedral conducted by the Rev. Carl Asplund, assistant pastor. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. today. Friends may call at the James H. Davis Funeral Home, 3009 Frederica St., after 9 a.m. today.
