Note: *Obituary* LEE CUMBEE DIES, FUNERAL TUESDAY Lee Cumbee, 71, of 928 N. 12th St., died Saturday night in Lourdes Hospital. A native of Ballard County, Mr. Cumbee came to Paducah in 1937 from Ragland. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Lucille Cumbee; a son Verlon L. Cumbee, Paducah; three daughters, Mrs Ray Gage, Mrs Arthur Joiner and Mrs Darwin Reed, all of Paducah; a brother, Jess Cumbee of Paducah; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev Harold Council and O.K. Vick officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Garden. Friends may call at the funeral home. (The Paducah Sun, Jan 24, 1965) * History * Lee Cumbee owned and ran a restaurant in Beebe, Arkansas. The restaurant was frequented by Railroad workers, as it was located by the Railroad Tracks. Lee was very well know for his Chili. After Clara died, Lee sold the restaurant, and worked as a taxi driver. Lee eventually went to Chicago to work in the Steel Mills, where he met and married Lucille 'Lucy' King.
