He was a retired field superintendent for the Consolidated Gas S upp y Corp., Hastings, and was a member of the Jacksonburg United Meth odis t Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Madaline Wi lliam s Martyn, in 1978. Surviving are his wife, Frances Durig Martyn ; two s ons, Lydle Monroe of Jacksonburg and James Rodney of Moberly , MO; fiv e daughters, Reda Goldsborough of Tallmadge, OH, Mary Ruth L owe of Jac ksonburg, Nancy Jane Fluharty and Patricia Marlene Sweeney , both of Ne well and Konnie Stewart of Pine Grove; two step-daughters , Dixie Elwoo d of Wheeling, and Nila Spowl of New Martinsville; a sis ter, Retha Wya tt of Vienna, WV; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandchild ren; 14 great-g randchildren. Friends received at Palmer Funeral Hom e where services w ere held. Interment in K of P Cemetery, Hastings.
