Note: The Register-Herald Beckley, West Virginia June 28, 2009 Lorena Buckland Ward Lorena Buckland Ward, 99, of Hinton passed away June 26, 2009, at the Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness. Born December 8, 1909, at Ramp, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie H. and Mary Kessler Richmond. Lorena was a faithful member of the Ramp Holiness Church as long as her health permitted and was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Summers County. Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert W. Buckland, in 1935; and her second husband, James Franklin Ward, in 1981. Five brothers, Ricardo Richmond, Rev. Paul Richmond, Omar Richmond, Carson Richmond and Ira Fox; and two sisters, Etta Skaggs and Ina Bess. Survived by four sons, Walton Buckland of Indianapolis, Ind., Keith Buckland and wife Patty of Deland, Fla., Curtis Ward and wife Barbara of Greenwood, Ind., and Kenneth Ward and wife Susie of Somerset, Pa.; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Norman Richmond of Ramp and Calvin Richmond of Indianapolis, Ind., several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel with Pastor Felix Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Knob Church Cemetery.
